ABOUT CLAIBORNE COUNTY HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

The Claiborne County Habitat for humanity began operation in 1992 under10-4-14-LMU-16 the leadership of Rev. Richard Minton, Dot Lewis, Mary Graves, and many others,   Also donations and financial support from people like Dwight Lewis, Steve Lewis,  First Baptist – Middlesboro, and so many others  with a dedication to improve the housing conditions for many in the county.  Through the years we have acquired homesites,  built a meeting place ( bunkhouse for volunteers building homes) and built the houses that became the homes of our partners.  All this from the grace of God along with the involvement of church groups, banks and businesses working together.
The current board consists of volunteer members and a host of part time volunteers who assist in the building of new homes, home owner education and fund raising.  We are currently completing our fifteenth home.  Home owner education and community involvement of our partner families is a major goal going forward.  We want to both improve the lives of our families and the communities of Claiborne County.

In addition to our local efforts Claiborne County Habitat donates back to Habitat International on a yearly basis to promote safe affordable housing worldwide.

We are always in need of volunteers interested in making a difference by providing a hand up not a hand out.  Consider donating and/or volunteering to make this happen.

Habitat affiliates tithe to Habitat International to support the parent organization and its work around the world.
